There is a moment in every culture when the thing that made it real becomes the thing that’s most missing. Surfing reached that moment quietly, somewhere between the sale of one surf giant to private equity and the day another collapsed under a corporate empire. The soul left the building.
Sunbreaker started in 1981 at Salt Creek and became one of the most respected names in the water — sponsoring standout surfers from the California coast to the shores of Hawaii and building a team people still talk about. It was sold in 1988 and never surfed again. The community never forgot. This brand is the homecoming.
